The Kiwanis Family

CKI is a Student Leadership Program and a member of the Kiwanis Family which includes various other SLP’s. For more information or to see what the other branches of the Kiwanis family are all about click on their names.

Kiwanis Kids:

K-Kids is the largest service organization for elementary school students, with more than 42,000 members worldwide. K-Kids is a “student-led” community service organization that operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. Community-based K-Kids clubs also can be established at churches, libraries, YMCAs, lodges or similar facilities.

Builders Club:

Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students, with more than 45,000 members worldwide.Members learn to work together and develop servant-leaders skills as they serve their school and community. In partnership with UNICEF and March of Dimes, the clubs are able to expand their outreach to babies and children of the world. Builders Club is a student-led community service organization that operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. Community-based Builders Clubs can also be established at churches, libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, lodges or similar facilities.

Key Club:

Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. Key Club International is the high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. High school student members of Key Club perform acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.

Aktion Club:

Aktion Club is the only service club for adults with disabilities, with more than 11,000 members worldwide. Aktion Clubs draw members from various organizations that support individuals with disabilities, as well as other community programs.  Aktion clubs can also be established at churches, libraries, YMCAs, lodges or similar facilities.

Kiwanis:

Kiwanis International is a global organization of membes of every age who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help their communities in countless ways. Each community’s needs are different—so each Kiwanis club is different. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things happen.

Orono-Old Town Kiwanis:

The Orono-Old Town Kiwanis is UMaine Circle K’s sponsoring Kiwanis club. They are the most amazing group of people, full of so much passion for service and making the world a better place, one child at a time. They help us in many ways, from helping to cover costs for events such as District convention, ICON, Leadership Academy, and service projects. They are also a great group of people to volunteer with. Every year around the Holidays we always get together to wrap gifts and it is always a fun events and we are always looking for projects to work on together with them. Attending their weekly meetings are also a great experience to learn more about what Kiwanis, and in turn, CKI, is all about!
